Families Update from the Leadership Council

July 24, 2023

Last Thursday, New Hope had the opportunity to celebrate 12 employees who have collectively dedicated 160 years of caring, compassion and hard work to our mission of enriching the lives of individuals with disabilities. At our quarterly Employee Recognition Event, we also celebrated employees who have recently completed their ANCOR certification, as well as three employees who have been nominated by their peers and awarded the Bee the Hope award. Celebrations like these remind us we truly are moving New Hope forward, so congratulations again to all of those individuals who have been recognized!

As we continue our work in our key focus areas of mission, workforce, services, quality and foundation, we want to share with you three key areas of concentration for the Leadership Council over the past week.

  • Training (Quality). New Hope’s training and compliance department recently provided an update to management on how employee training stands for the year. While many departments are balancing workforce shortages, Lacie Tedrow, Director of Quality Assurance and Staff Training, was happy to report that New Hope has maintained its high standards of training expectations. Currently, we are only two-percentage points away from our goal for residential documentation error rates, which surpasses what is expected of our organization from Health and Human Services (HHS).
  • Employee and Family Picnic (Workforce). To celebrate the hard work and dedication the entire team has put into New Hope’s mission over the past year, the Leadership Council, Executive Team and Board of Directors is excited to announce plans for an upcoming Employee and Family Picnic for New Hope employees and their immediate family members. This is an opportunity to say thank you and celebrate all we have been able to accomplish as a team.
  • Growing Home (Mission and Services). Our the past several weeks, the Leadership Council has been working to create an achievable, 90-day operational plan – one that will help propel the organization into the next fiscal year, while also creating a solid foundation from which the next CEO can work. In doing so, we have looked at each ongoing project to determine if it meets New Hope’s standards by asking the following questions:
    • Does it support our mission?
    • Does it complement our core services?
    • Is it fiscally responsible?

Last week, the Leadership Council recommended suspending moving forward with plans for an onsite daycare/childcare, also referred to as Growing Hope. The New Hope Board of Directors voted to support this suspension.

In light of this decision, an employee task force has been created to develop a recommendation for the space that had been set aside earlier for the development of Growing Hope. The Leadership Council looks forward to hearing employee recommendations for how this space could best be used to further our mission and support our core services moving forward.

Again, the Leadership Council is dedicated to continuing to move New Hope forward in a positive direction, keeping mission, workforce, services, quality and foundation at the forefront of all we do. If you have questions or concerns along the way, please do not hesitate to reach out to any member of the Leadership Council.

Sincerely,

LeAn Taylor, Chief Program Officer

Kim Platt, Chief of Community Operations

Lacie Tedrow, Director of Quality Assurance & Staff Training

Danielle Fineran, Director of Finance

Angie Owen, Director of Development

Sarah Foley, Director of Marketing and Retail Operations

Kandi Quandt, Director of Employee Success

Shanon Lux, Associate Human Resources Director

Rhonda Feldman, Executive Assistant
